Decompression Surgery
Expected Results
The primary goals of decompression surgery are to reduce leg pain and numbness and to increase the distance you can walk.
For most patients:
- Leg pain and numbness improve compared to before surgery
- The distance you can walk without stopping increases
However, if your nerves have been compressed severely for a long time, some numbness or weakness may remain. It is important to understand before surgery that your legs may not return to exactly how they felt when you were younger.
