Exercise Therapy
What to Avoid
The following exercises can make your symptoms worse:
- Exercises that arch your lower back — These narrow the spinal canal further
- Pushing through pain to keep walking — It's fine to stop and rest
- Heavy weightlifting — Such as barbell squats
- Jerky or bouncing movements — Always move slowly and with control
Stop exercising and contact your doctor if:
- Numbness or weakness in your legs suddenly gets worse
- You develop problems with urination or bowel control
- Pain persists even at rest
